What is henryga.com, and who owns it?
Henryga.com is a Web site created by Hassel Weems to show the people, places, and events of Henry County, Georgia through the use of photo stories. I (Hassel) am solely responsible for the content here. I will attend an event, follow a person’s daily activities, visit a location, or pursue a theme, while taking photographs that show what happened in a certain period of time.
Why?
• I love photography. I will look for any excuse to go out and take pictures.
• My wife and I moved to Henry County in 2001 because we knew this is where we wanted to live. This Web site gives me the opportunity to meet more people and learn more about where I live than I could any other way.
• I want you to become familiar with my work, so that when you need to hire a photographer, whether for your wedding or a magazine cover, you will call me.
Who is Hassel Weems?
I am a photographer in Locust Grove. Because of our great location between Atlanta and Macon, I consider Macon and Atlanta local as far as travel goes. My family is from Putnam County so I consider Lake Oconee local as well. I shoot weddings in a photojournalistic or documentary style and specialize in natural portraiture. How do you find your subjects?
Usually I just ask someone if I can do a story on them or call the organizers of an event to get a pass. Hopefully, you will know of something or someone that needs to be here and will let me know.
How does it work? Do you get paid for this?
I am not paid to create the stories I present on henryga.com.
If someone wants to use photos from a story they are welcome to purchase usage rights in the same manner as stock photography. (See Commercial Usage below) Any photo purchases are made only after the story is published. If you need specific photos for your business a henryga.com story on your business is not likely to yield these images. In most cases you will need to schedule a regular commercial photo shoot. For example, I can not do product photography as part of covering a story but I can do it as a stand alone shoot. However, if part of my coverage plan involves making portraits of your employees in their work areas you would be able to purchase these for a company newsletter or web site as stock without having to schedule a separate shoot.
Purchasing Prints:
Prints for personal, non-commercial use may be purchased at the same prices as my portrait prints. The price list can be found here.
Commercial Usage:
Commercial usage prices are based on variables such as type of usage, print run, image size, etc. Any sales are handled as stock photography from a pool of available images.
About Image Manipulation:
The images on henryga.com are not edited in such a way as to change their content or meaning. Henryga.com is about photojournalism. Photojournalism is using photographs to make a visual journal of what happened at a particular place and time. You can trust your eyes here.
